Open House 2027
Experience fascinating research firsthand
Experience fascinating research firsthand
Date: 20th February 2027
The Biomedical Center (BMC) at LMU Munich will once again open its doors on 20 February 2027, inviting everyone interested to take a look behind the scenes of biomedical research.
A varied programme of laboratory tours, interactive information stands, short talks and hands-on activities will offer insights into research and everyday life in the laboratory. Researchers will explain, among other topics, how the immune system recognises pathogens, which approaches to treating Alzheimer’s disease are being investigated, and how the CRISPR gene-editing tool is used in research.
Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in small-scale biochemical and physiological experiments and discover scientific phenomena for themselves. Staff will also provide information about the different career paths in research, the Martinsried Campus and the wide range of initiatives at the BMC.
There will also be plenty to discover for children. In the Kids Lab, young researchers aged 6 to 10 can explore the world of science through playful activities. The children’s programme will also include a children’s cinema, arts and crafts, and painting.
The Open Day offers an opportunity to talk to researchers in person, ask questions and learn more about the work carried out at the BMC. Its aim is to communicate scientific findings in an accessible way, provide insights into biomedical research and encourage dialogue with the public.
Please note: Prior registration on site on the day will be required for certain activities, including laboratory tours, experiments and the Kids Lab. Further information about the programme and registration will be published in good time before the event.
